Why I Built Tokiglot (And What I'm Actually Trying to Do)

May 30, 2026 · 3 min read

Tokiglot started because I couldn't find the tools I actually wanted. Not apps that do everything and overwhelm you. Not paywalled premium features. Just simple, focused tools that help you sit down and study.

So I built them myself.

What's in the toolkit right now

Three tools, all free, no account needed:

All three tools work together. A typical session: start the Pomodoro, use the grid or hanzi sheet to practice, rest during the break. No switching between five different apps.

Why free, forever

Language learning has enough barriers already. Cost shouldn't be one of them, especially not for tools this simple. Tokiglot will always be free.

If you find it useful and want to support the project, there's a Ko-fi link. Every coffee helps keep the tools running and lets me build more.

What's coming

This blog is where I'll document everything: new tools as I build them, my own language learning challenges, what worked and what didn't. Real notes, not polished marketing.

If you're learning a language (any language), this place is for you.
